EHS Hub Director is based in Freeport, TX and supports sites in Texas.  The Freeport site spans more than 450 acres and hosts multiple manufacturing plants and functional groups that produce a variety of products. The site employs about 1500 full-time and contract employees.  The Texas Hub supports 8 sites, 2 laboratories in Texas and one in Arizona and a total of approximately 3000 full-time and contract employees.


EHS Hub Director supervises a team of 40 EHS professionals and oversees overall management of the EHS programs at the hub sites.  EHS Hub Director is a member of the Manufacturing and Site Services Leadership Team reporting to the VP of Manufacturing and Site EHS Services and supports an extensive network of Site Managers, Manufacturing Managers, Operations Directors and Operations VP’s. The position also functions as a member of the Freeport Site Leadership Team under the direction of the Senior Vice President of the Freeport Site.


The position manages and coordinates defined day-to-day EHS responsibilities for sites in the Texas Hub.  Responsible for EHS personnel, budget and activities supporting assigned Hub sites.


Formula for success.  You will…..  

  • Lead defined EH&S services and programs needed at each site in the Texas Hub through a shared resources concept
  • Implement strategies to support site and business objectives and to capitalize on opportunities to add value
  • Maintain effective relationships with Site Management, Manufacturing, Technical Engineering Services and the appropriate Federal, State and Local regulatory agencies
  • Establish in conjunction with the Vice President Site EHS Services and each site manager, the EH&S services necessary to achieve the aligned goals of the site’s business and the EHS organization.  Conduct reviews and realignment as needed
  • Manage and coordinate resources and talent within the Hub to ensure all requirements are met in the best interests of Company
  • Support community relations activities on behalf of BASF as well as industry associations such as Texas Chemical Council (TCC) and American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM)

Qualifications - Our Client recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent


Ingredients for success.  What we look for in you...

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in technical discipline (Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Science, Biology, etc) is preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of business and managerial work experience is required
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in implementation of environmental, health and/or safety programs in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience directly managing others required
  • Leadership, coaching, entrepreneurial drive, results orientation, strategic thinking, influencing, persuasiveness, and negotiating skills are essential. 
  • Expertise in how EHS is executed in operations and how programs impact overall performance required
